PORT OF LOS ANGELES CLEAN TRUCK PROGRAM UPDATE
Dear Customer,
As you may have been following in the media, the Port of Los Angeles is expected to implement its Clean Truck Program on October 1. This change has the potential to cause significant disruption to the inbound logistics process on the West Coast for months to come.
The Good News: We've been planning for this since January. Your supply chain will continue to flow smoothly as we further expend our pier drayage and value-added distribution capabilities.
In late August, we submitted a letter of intent to the Port of Los Angeles committing to a pier trucking fleet that meets the standards of the Clean Truck Program. We are fully prepared to comply with the new regulations. We will use company owned and operated equipment that meets the port's requirements. Our fleet uses modern equipment fitted with the most advanced environmental technology available.
The Bottom Line: Your supply chain can leverage our investment in a fully compliant Clean Truck pier fleet that avoids additional fees and offers a "green" solution for your logistics operation.
We also plan to significantly expand our environmentally sensitive pier fleet in southern California in the coming year. Starting October 1, we will deploy a Clean Truck pier fleet with capacity to handle 70,000 TEU imports per year. We will grow the fleet to handle 300,000 TEU per year by the end of 2009.
As you know, we have been well established in Southern California for 25 years as an innovator and leader in DC bypass, cross-dock and value-added services, including ticketing, pick and pack, labeling, inventory replenishment and warehouse management. We operate an automated distribution center and additional facilities totaling 1.2 million square feet within a 10-mile range of the Port of Los Angeles. This strategic position allows NRS to integrate pier drayage directly into the retail supply chain, offering you a turn-key distribution solution supported by NRS's real-time web based visibility system.
We know you rely on us for speed, flexibility and control at the gateway ports. Southern California will continue to be a critical hub for inbound logistics, and we're prepared to maintain our leading competitive position in this market. Our new Clean Truck fleet and expanded facilities will help us to further integrate the retail supply chain.
Your Global Supply Chain Solution: As other trucking companies across the country rush to meet the requirements and market themselves under the new regulations, remember the "Quiet Giant" that has been in Southern California for two decades, who has the fleet and the facilities to offer a truly integrated distribution solution on the West Coast, and who can help "green" your supply chain while keeping costs down.

Thank you,
The NRS Team
