NRS DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE SECURITY ELECTED TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
TRANSPORTED ASSET PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (TAPA) AMERICAS
John Tabor Will Oversee New Trucking Security Requirements (TSR 2012) Program
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ (November 15, 2011) - National Retail Systems, Inc. (NRS), a leading provider of logistics services to U.S. retailers, pharmaceutical companies and consumer goods manufacturers, announced today that John Tabor, Director of Corporate Security, has been elected to join the Board of Directors of the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) Americas.
Mr. Tabor will chair a Board Committee regarding TAPA's new Trucking Security Requirements (TSR 2012) program, through which the global organization will begin the process of certifying carriers in January of 2012.
"John brings extraordinary security skills and knowledge of the logistics industry to TAPA at a time when the organization has just published TSR 2012, which will be of great assistance to both shippers and carriers in strengthening security in the supply chain," said Alan F. Spear, Chairman of TAPA Americas.
TSR 2012 has been established to ensure the safe and secure transportation of any TAPA member's assets throughout the world by specifying the minimum acceptable standards for security throughout the supply chain, utilizing trucking and associated operations, and the methods to be used in maintaining those standards. TSR 2012 outlines the process and specification for carriers to achieve compliance for their trucking operations. It is the intention of TAPA members to select carriers that meet or exceed TSR 2012 compliance requirements.
"Supply chain security is no longer a secondary consideration when it comes to trucking in the United States. It is a primary concern," Tabor said. "TSR 2012 will help carriers to understand the minimum criteria for security that shippers can expect throughout the supply chain."
John Tabor has been Director of Corporate Security for National Retail Systems, Inc. (NRS) since 1999. He handles all aspects of the company's loss prevention program nationwide, including employee training, compliance, physical security and criminal investigations.
Prior to joining NRS, he held various loss prevention positions in the retail sector. He is a Board member of the Transportation and Loss Prevention Security Council and also sits on the Retail Industry Leaders Association's Supply Chain Security Committee. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Loss Prevention Foundation. John holds regular training classes with the Miami Dade Police Department, New Jersey State Police Department and the Illinois State Police Department on conducting proper cargo theft investigations.
